GAA: Donegal draw Antrim at home in Ulster Championship opener

Donegal have got what many believe is a comfortable draw against Antrim in the First Round of the Ulster Championship.

The draws for all four provinces were made in the RTE studios in Dublin tonight.

Rory Gallagher and his team were perhaps looking to avoid such names as champions Tyrone and also Monaghan in the opening round.

Tyrone face a quarter-final against Derry, while Monaghan and Fermanagh were drawn in the preliminary round, with Cavan awaiting the victors.

Speaking at the draw, former Donegal player and RTE analyst Martin McElhinney said: “You want to get a home draw in the first round of the championship.

“Whoever gets over that will have a game under their belt but Derry or Tyrone will still be a massive task for whoever gets through.”
