Following the decision of Mr Manus Bonner to withdraw his application for an aquaculture license for foreshore at Keadue Strand, the local Save our Strands Group have released the following statement;
“The Save our Strands Group gratefully welcome the decision by Manus Bonner to withdraw his application for the granting of a license for an Oyster Farm at Keadue Strand and wish to express their gratitude to Mr Bonner for taking this decision for the reasons outlined by his solicitor on the radio this afternoon.”
“Obviously, the Group will now seek formal confirmation via the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to confirm that this application is no longer being considered and wish to make no further comment regarding this application at this time.”
The Save our Strands Group are keen to stress that Mr Bonner’s announcement only relates to the application for Keadue Strand and does not relate to the application for Cruit Island Strand which is still due for consideration and decision by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine shortly.
“Following some misinformation, the Save our Strands Group wish to reiterate that the application for granting a license for an Oyster Farm at Cruit Island is still under consideration and ask that everybody with an interest in this application makes their submission to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine before the deadline of Monday 17th of October. We ask for your continued support in this regard.”
