Burt suffer heavy defeat in Ulster IFC first-round clash

The game should never have been allowed to take place.

Burt made history yesterday evening when they defeated Milford at O’Donnell Park after extra-time in a thrilling clash.

They ensured that the club would play in the Donegal SFC next season for the first time in the club’s history.

Burt’s players who have made so many sacrifices this season deserved to go out and enjoy the celebrations that should’ve followed, but they couldn’t.

Because, despicably they were forced to play the first-round of the Ulster IFC this afternoon less than 24 hours after making history.

Burt had nothing left in their legs and suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Antrim IFC champions Bredagh GAC.

The Antrim side ran out convincing winners on a score-line of 2-10 to 0-03.

However, the question must be asked why was the game allowed to go ahead?

It was unfair on everybody involved, and the players, management and supporters of Burt deserved much better after their heroics yesterday.
