Basketball: Super performances across boards from Blaze teams

Blaze Basketball Club in Letterkenny had a very busy weekend across the boards with some outstanding performances.

U-18 boys had 2 games at the weekend. On Saturday we had a narrow defeat against Omagh Thunder in Omagh. Final score 59 – 52. On Sunday we played Ballyshannon (also away) we won this one 39 – 51. MVP for both games was Michael Leadley who scored 24 points against Omagh and 41 points against Ballyshannon.

U16 boys were away to Phoenix on Sat and came away with a win.

U14 boys played Newry Fliers at home where they took a convincing win 57-23 (20-0) at end 1st quarter due to excellent defensive pressing! Killian Gribben top scorer 28 points.

U12 Girls – Well done to our Blaze U12 Girls who played their first North West League fixture today. They played away against Ballyshannon who have two teams in the U12 girls section and won both matches. A great team effort by all players.

Our U-11 girls travelled to Ballyshannon yesterday to play, their first ever competitive games for Blaze, in the NW league. In the first game a stronger more experienced Ballyshannon team came away with a well deserved win. Their second game might be considered the game of the day with both teams showing amazing fight and determination to the very end. Blaze went into the last quarter one point up but Ballyshannon grabbed the win with their full court press.

With all players receiving equal court time and in return them giving 100% to their team, they finished the day with their heads high. They are already planning their progression over the next few season. An amazing group of girls to work with.
