Brrr-eezy and frosty winter weather on the way to Donegal

The winter chill is setting in across the county as frost and hail have been forecast for the end of the week.

The mild autumn days are almost over and cold nights are in store according to the latest forecast by Met Eireann.

Top temperatures today will range from 9 to 11C with light breezes and cloudy conditions. The clouds will ward off the frost tonight in Donegal while the rest of the country could see some grass frost.

Temperatures reached below freezing last night in southern and eastern parts of Ireland, and Donegal is going to feel that chill by the weekend.

Tomorrow, rain is expected in the afternoon and evening, while fresh southwest winds will veer west to northwesterly.

Friday will be a cold, windy and showery day with some more prolonged rain  in parts of Donegal. There is a chance of hail showers also.

The Atlantic coast is set to endure strong gusty northwest winds on Friday. The highest temperatures are forecast at 8 to 10C, but it will feel much colder due to the high winds.

Overnight lows on Friday will reach 1 to 4C, and there is a possibility of frost in sheltered areas.

The remainder of the weekend is set to be cold, bright and breezy, while Donegal could see rain and hail showers. Frost is predicted to set in for each night this weekend as temperatures could go below freezing.
