Affidea, Ireland’s leading independent diagnostic imaging provider, has been announced as the official diagnostics partner of Donegal GAA.

The sponsorship deal, worth €9,000 over three years, will provide state of the art diagnostic access for the players, including the minor, Under 21’s and Senior teams.

The announcement was officially made at the Affidea clinic, at Scally Place, Letterkenny today with Affidea CEO, Tom Finn, and members of the GAA Management and Senior Team present.

Affidea is the leading national provider of diagnostic scanning including XRAY, MRI, and Ultrasound.

Its clinic at Scally Place, Letterkenny, was officially opened in July of this year by Minister for Health Simon Harris, TD and is already servicing a real need in the area. Previously, those needing scans would have had to travel to Sligo.

This agreement with the club will enable players quick access to all diagnostic services covering XRays, MRI’s and Ultrasounds, so that any potential injury can be dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Tom Finn, CEO of Affidea, said he is delighted to support such an important part of the local community in Donegal.

“The new deal between Affidea and Donegal GAA will ensure players can receive the timely attention they need upon injury, and guarantee they receive the best service and care on offer. On behalf of the Affidea team, I wish the club the best of luck in the upcoming season and we look forward to supporting the local Donegal GAA community in the years ahead.”

Cieran Kelly, Treasurer of Donegal GAA said Donegal GAA are delighted that Affidea is coming on board as Medical Partner of Donegal GAA for the next 3 years.

“This partnership covers all our teams from underage development squads right up to our Senior Teams in both hurling and football. Unfortunately injury is part and parcel of any sport, GAA is no exception. We are lucky to have a state of the art Affidea Diagnostic Centre in Letterkenny which can speedily diagnose our injured players.

“Early diagnosis means our players can get the correct treatments and allows injured players a speedy return from injury. We look forward to working closely with Affidea over the coming years and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Affidea for their support of Donegal GAA.”
