Over half of Ireland’s secondary schools will remain closed today when 17,500 teachers will withdraw from their supervisory and substitution duties due to The Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) strike, affecting 200,000 students across 400 schools.

In addition to withdrawing from supervisory and substitution duties, the ASTI have organised six strike days over the next month, with the first strike commencing tomorrow.

The ASTI are encouraging teachers who are striking to share their pictures from the picket line to reinforce the sense of solidarity felt by teachers across the country.

To share your picture from the picket line on Twitter, tag @astiunion and use the hashtag #equalpay

Strike days are as follows;
Tuesday, November 8th
Wednesday, November 16th
Thursday, November 24th
Tuesday, November 29th
Tuesday, December 6th
Wednesday, December 7th
