Job Vacancy: Progressive Credit Union seeks Loans Officer

Jobs: A progressive community-based credit union is seeking a Loans Officer/Senior Teller to join their dedicated, highly-trained financial services team.

B&S Credit Union Limited is based in the twin towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar with more than 11,500 members and €50m in assets.

Reporting to the Manager /Credit Committee, the position is full time but will be subject to a six-month probationary period.

Experience in the credit union sector is desirable but not essential.  Recent relevant lending experience within a financial institution or entity regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Job Description:

The Loans Officer will be responsible for the day to day management of the loan approval function within the Credit Union and will work closely with the Credit Committee to ensure that loans issued by the Credit Union adhere to all relevant guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Approve loans within specified limits, and refer loan applications outside those limits to Credit Committee/Manager for approval.
  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Analyse applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Explain to customers the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
  • Review of loan applicants’ credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Review and update credit and loan files.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate in accordance with policy.
  • Role will involve some customer facing teller duties
  • Role will also provide some support to the accounting function.

 Ideal Requirements:  

The successful candidate should be a self-starter, possess a relevant professional qualification, be highly analytical, organised and flexible.

Skills:

  • Ability to interpret and analyse an applicant’s financial records and understand risk factors
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions in line with Credit Union policy and guidelines
  • Good understanding of the credit union business model and ethos.
  • Ability to understand and implement the relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, computer literate, dedicated and flexible.
  • Experience in financial services.
  • It would be a distinct advantage if the candidate had experience of accounting systems.

Salary negotiable based on qualifications and relevant experience
