More than 10,000 people will descend on Ballybofey this weekend for the Ulster Final of the Irish Dancing Championships from November 17th to 20th.

Irish dancing is becoming more popular than ever before and this competition is a mecca showcase for the young people (4yrs – 21yrs) performing and competing in the traditional art of dancing at national and world level and for the impassioned audience it attracts from all over the global community.

It adds a festival dimension to Ballybofey as an out-of season event and will benefit the neighbouring towns of Stranorlar, Letterkenny and Donegal Town.

Kevin Armstrong, Director of the Ulster Championships, stated that there are in excess of 2000 entries to this competition and that he expects the largest attendance ever at this particular four day dancing event.

The success of the Ulster Dancing Championships event in County Donegal to date has determined the imminent return of Oireachtas Rince Uladh to the county again in 2017.

An Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Terence Slowey said that “Oireachtas Rincí Uladh”, “The Ulster Dancing Championships” have been coming to Donegal for quite a number of years now and that Donegal County Council recognises the cultural and traditional value and importance of this great event as well as the economic and social benefits to the county. He wishes all involved great success.

A Céad Míle Fáilte is extended to everyone who wishes to view and experience Irish Dancing at its ultimate best and to explore what the Ulster Dancing Championships event holds in store for the avid Irish dancing enthusiasts and local communities.

This event is being hosted in Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey for four days in the form of high class competitive entertainment.

Is féile comhaimseartha é do dhamhsóirí óga (4bl – 21bl), ag cur i láthair agus ag iomaíocht san ealaíon Rince Gaelach, agus don lucht féachana a tharraingníonn sé ó na ceantair domhanda.
