An operation is underway on the outskirts of Letterkenny into suspected illegal dumping.
Gardai and members of Donegal County Council were at the scene of the operation which is located off the dual carriageway.
Eye witnesses have told Donegal Daily that geo-physical analysts are on site and are carrying out a number of readings at the location.
Trial trenches are to be dug in a bid to ascertain if there is illegal waste on site.
The investigation is being carried out under the Waste Management Act.
We understand that the operation will examine a number of properties in the area.
Gardai were at the scene today in a observational capacity.
A spokesman for Donegal County Council said they are not in a position to comment at this time.
