A grant of €18,850 has been announced for public lighting at the all-weather pitch at Gairmscoil Mhic Dhiarmuida on Arranmore Island.

The lights have been welcomed by Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher Leas Cheann Comhairle.

He said “I welcome the funding from the Roinn and I played a central role in securing the grant, having worked closely with the applicants throughout the process.

“The all-weather pitch will be of immense benefit to the residents of the island in providing a recreational and sporting ground.

“The all-weather sports facility is a partnership between the Gairmscoil/ETB and the broader community of the island,” said Pat the Cope.

It is hoped works will commence shortly and completed without delay.
