People warned to wrap-up as Christmas lights get big switch-on

It’s beginning to feel a lot like …….

People across the county are being advised to wrap up warm as a number of towns switch on their Christmas lights this evening.

With temperatures again set to plunge, extra layers will be needed as well as plenty of hot chocolate.

In Letterkenny the Christmas Lights Switch on in association with BE Energy takes place at 7pm at Market Square with a 6pm build-up.

The Lights will be switched on by the winners of the School Art competition, Sparky the BE Energy Mascot and the Mayor of Letterkenny, James Pat McDaid.

There will be lots of free treats along the street from 6pm and an appearance by the man in red after the switch on with treats for all the children while prizes will be sponsored by Crafty Kids.

Meanwhile in Buncrana a Christmas parade will be held before the lights are officially switched on at 6.30pm.

And yet again the big man in the Red Suit will be there to chat to all the boys and girls.
