Moville-based TV Chef Brian McDermott has vowed to bring the “coolest food on the planet” to RTÉ viewers.

The chef – who is a regular on BBC Radio Foyle and Ulster as well as RTÉ – will appear on RTÉ1’s Today Show with Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane on Thursday.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen Daithi since National Geographic named Donegal as the coolest place on the planet in 2017,” said the chef.

“Of course, I’ve always known Donegal was the coolest place on the planet, but not everybody knows that it also has the coolest food on the planet.

“I’m looking forward to having a bit of craic with Dáithí about that one.

“He’s a proud Kerryman I’m sure he’ll have his own views on that, but I know I can prove to him that Donegal food is not just the best in Ireland, but the best on the planet.”

Brian – who is also the manager of the Foodovation centre in the North West Regional College in Derry – bases all his dishes around produce from Donegal and Derry.

“I’m delighted to be able to bring my passion for simple, traditional food made from quality local ingredients to RTÉ viewers.

“People all over the country will be cooking Donegal food this Christmas.”

The Today Show featuring TV Chef Brian McDermott is on RTÉ1 on Thursday 8 December 2016 from 4.30pm.
