A Letterkenny man has pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of child pornography.

Mervyn Wasson, of Ballyraine Park, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court today where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

Wasson, who is in his 60s, spoke only to plead guilty to the two charges.

The court heard how the charges relate to Wasson having 1,444 sexually explicit images involving children at his home on January 11th, 2010.

The second charge is that he had in his possession 22 videos of children engaging in sexual acts with adults on the same date.

The case was adjourned until April 25th last to allow for a Probation and Welfare Report.

Barrister Peter Nolan asked the court to consider providing a psychological report in the case.
