St. Michael’s were delighted to see our clubman Colm McFadden  and his wife Levina being honoured at the Donegal GAA Banquet in The Abbey Hotel in Donegal on Saturday night last at the end of an outstanding Intercounty Career.

Since his first call up to the County Panel in 2001 Colm has provided many great memories for Donegal supporters in the intervening years and has gone on to win The Sigerson Cup with Galway, National League Division 1 and 2 Titles, 1 McKenna Cup, 3 Ulster Championships and of course who can forget 2012 when Colm was on the Donegal team that lifted the Sam Maguire Cup for only the second time in the history of Donegal football by seeing off Mayo.

He also went on to win an All Star in that year and was nominated in 2011 and 2014.

When he retired earlier this year he had played in 64 Championship matches for Donegal and a total of 173 games.

These are both records for Donegal football.  Colm has also been an outstanding performer for his club St. Michael’s since breaking into the team along with Christy Toye since 1999 and has been an integral part of the team for many years now.

Along the way among the titles won by the club have been the Donegal Intermediate Championship and the Division 1 League Title in 2016.

The team also reached the County Senior Final in 2011 only to lose out narrowly to Glenswilly.  His performances for Club and County have been inspirational over the years and its hoped that Colm will continue to be a part of the St. Michael’s team for many more years to come.

The esteem that Colm is held within the club was evident by the large crowd of members who attended the function in the Abbey on Saturday evening with forty people making the trip to Donegal Town to support Colm.
