Picture special: Christmas Spirit LK launches ‘Put a Little Love in Your Heart’ video

December 1st was a special date in Letterkenny.

To a team of people it signified the culmination of over three months of hard work, but to the people there it was much more: it was the start of Christmas.

Christmas Spirit LK launched their music video ‘Put A Little Love In Your Heart’ for the #letterkennycares project in aid of the Donegal Hospice and Pieta House to a 120-strong crowd at the magical setting of An Grianan Theatre’s front plaza with an amazing outside projection show.

The night included mulled wine and mince pies provided by An Grianan Theatre for the charity event to put people in that Christmas mood and of course Santa Claus himself arrived to greet the kids with some chocolatey goodness.

A little girl called Sarah gave a whole months worth of pocket money to start off one of the donation buckets.

The event kicked off with showing some videos, from backers of the project such as Irish international goalkeeper Shay Given, Fergal D’Arcy, Jason Quigley and Mickey Joe Harte, who was there on the night.

After the promos were done, the Christmas Spirit LK team decided to start a sing along to get the crowd in the mood and displayed the word on the massive screen of the projector for everyone to sing along.

After the four songs with the words, they decided to test out the level of Christmas spirit in the crowd by doing ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’: It was loud and it was brilliant.

Then came the main event – the video – explaining that all money raised would be split between the Donegal Hospice & Pieta House.

The video features 16 businesses from around Letterkenny as well as UHG, the Credit Union, the Donegal Hospice, Pieta House and the Letterkenny Gardai.

People laughed clapped and sang along. It was a great night for Letterkenny, said organiser Pete Rose.

The Christmas Spirit LK team would like to thank An Grianan Theatre, Unit 7, Celtronic Stuidios, 4 Lanterns, C&M Embroidery, Shay Given, Mickey Joe Harte, Daniel and Majella O’Donnell, Fergal D’Arcy, Jason Quigley, Joe Langan, Laura and Crew from UHG, Angie Kirk, Tina, Nicola and Maria for all their help with the launch.

They would also like to thank everyone who has donated so far.
