Alecoe Haughey (14) from Killybegs, was one of the six lucky young people chosen from 5,500 who auditioned for the film ‘A Christmas Star’ starring Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Kylie Minogue, Bronagh Waugh, Robert James Collier and Suranne Jones.

The movie is about a little girl who uses her magic powers to save her village from a conniving developer.

Alecoe plays the character of Bernadette in this feel-good Christmas film, with it scheduled it be shown on Channel 5 over Christmas, as well as being screened in the Odyssey Cinema Belfast and Netflix (Australia, America and Canada).

Filmed in 2015, Alecoe has been honoured as a special guest at the State Department, Washington DC!

Alecoe is a student at The Karen Gorman Academy of Speech & Drama and Casting Agency.

A spokesperson for the agency say; “We are so excited to see it Alecoe! I have a sneaky feeling I will be writing a congratulatory post when you collect your first Oscar in the not too distant future having achieved all this at only thirteen years of age!”
