Trial begins of man charged with causing death of young Ballybofey woman

The trial has started of a young Donegal man charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a young Ballybofey woman.

Kym Harley, 19, died on October 14th, 2014 following a road traffic incident at Dreenan, Ballybofey.

A 22 year old man, Gary O’Donnell is charged in connection with Ms Harley’s death at Dreenan, Ballybofey.

Mr O’Donnell of Steeple View, Dunwiley, Stranorlar, denied the charge and pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Judge John O’Hagan at Letterkenny Circuit Court today.

The court was told that the late Ms Harley was the daughter of local Fine Gael county councillor and publican Martin Harley and his wife Denise.

She had celebrated her 19th birthday just days before she was killed.

The trial, before a jury of six men and six women, is expected to last two days.
