Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher as Chairperson of the Glenties Municipal District officially opened the 1916 Garden of Remembrance in Falcarragh on Monday last.
Pupils & teachers from St Finian’s National School in Falcarragh joined those in attendance at the ceremony which marked the official opening of the 1916 Garden of Remembrance in honour of Padraig Pearse.
This garden is the final of 7 gardens planted in the Glenties Municipal District to commemorate each of the 7 signatories of the 1916 Proclamation.
Cllr. Gallagher paid tribute to the Falcarragh Tidy Towns Committee who played a prominent role in providing a suitable location & tree planting for the memorial garden.
The ceremony was also attended by Cllr Enda Bonner, Cllr Seamus O’Domhnaill, Cllr John Sheamais O Fearraigh along with Eamonn Brown and Michael McGarvey from Donegal County Council and representatives of the Falcarragh Tidy Towns Committee.
