The Donegal Chamber Orchestra’s Christmas Concert takes place tomorrow, Sunday 18th December at 3pm in Conwal Parish Church, Letterkenny.
Music from Vivaldi to Anderson. from Manfredini to Strauss as part of the Donegal Chamber Music Society ‘Sundays in Conwal’ Concert Series.
This Sunday afternoon (18th December at 3pm) music lovers in Donegal will have the opportunity to listen another chamber music recital at the heart of Letterkenny, in the historical Conwal Parish Church.
The Donegal Chamber Orchestra will perform a Christmas program of classical music with Baroque concertos by Vivaldi, Manfredini and Torelli, as well as Festive music by Maurice Jarre, the Strauss family and Leroy Anderson.
The Italian concerts will feature talented soloists of the Chamber Orchestra: violinists Sarah Ponsonby, Grace Harkin and Jennifer Kilcoyne and cellist Vyvyan Howard. The Sunday afternoon program will also include the ever popular Giazzotto’s Albinoni Adagio for violin, organ and strings with the orchestra’s leader Orsolya Szabó-Yélamo playing the solo violin part and the collaboration of organist Mike Doherty, who will playing on the recently restored instrument of Conwal Church. The concert will be conducted by Víctor Yélamo, the Ensemble’s Artistic Director.
A classical string chamber orchestra, the DCO is one of the ensembles of the Donegal Music Education Partnership, itself part of the Donegal Education and Training Board. The Donegal Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2006 and is celebrating 10 years of wonderful chamber music-making across the North-West and beyond.
The concert will last one hour approximately with no interval, a perfect way to explore the magic of Chamber Music for families and music lovers alike. Admission is €10/5, tickets will be available at the door.
