A major power outage has caused widespread disruption in Donegal Town this morning, as homes are businesses have been unexpectedly left without electricity.

The power cut occurred at 9.30am this morning and is not expected to be fully restored until 1pm this afternoon.

Many businesses in the town centre have been affected by the cut in this busy Christmas week.

The ESB have apologised for the loss of supply and said that technicians are currently working to repair a fault and will restore power as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, outside Ballintra, a planned power cut has been scheduled for today between 10am and 3.30pm. This cut for essential improvement / maintenance works will affect up to 10 households.
