SEAMUS COLEMAN says that Everton have to dust themselves down for their St Stephen’s Day clash with stuttering champions Leiecester City.
Everton themselves have stammered of late and it has been a frustrating term so far for Ronald Koeman’s Toffees, who lost 1-0 to Liverpool in Monday’s Merseyside derby.
They go to the King Power Stadium on Monday to face Leicester with Coleman insisting that they have to get their house in order.
“We’ve got a busy Christmas period coming up and the Premier League waits for nobody. We’ve got to dust ourselves down and go again,” the Killybegs man said.
Sadio Mane’s late, late goal at Goodison Park on Monday gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Everton in the derby.
Coleman said: “It would have been great to have gone in at half-time with the lead but it wasn’t to be.
“We had to go back out in the second half and fight and I thought we did well in terms of battling hard, but we didn’t produce enough in the final third.
“I thought we did enough to keep them out but, unfortunately, it wasn’t to be our night.”
The timing of Liverpool’s winner – coming in the 94th minute – was hard to take for Coleman.
The Republic of Ireland captain said: “I thought we had the best of it in the first half and, to be fair, they had the best of it in the second half.
“It’s just very disappointing to concede like we did – the ball hitting the post and rolling across like it did was hard to watch. We’re disappointed.”
