Carl McHugh set to play again following horror head injury

CARL MCHUGH is poised to make a dramatic return to action for Motherwell in tomorrow night’s Scottish Premier League game away to Inverness.

McHugh has not played since picking up a horrific head injury in his Scottish League debut in August against Kilmarnock.

McHugh required 10 stitches on a head wound that was so deep the skull could be seen and he returned home to Lettermacaward for a time to recover.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee says that the tough centre-back is now ready to play again.

“Carl might be involved in the next two games,” McGhee said.

“He is ready, even though he has not played games. Training wise he is in a good place. If we can get him involved in the next couple of games we will.

“Carl would be like a new signing. It is a fresh start.

“When you see him in training he is a really good footballer.

“He got injured because of the type of guy he is. You can’t curb that. “I think he is going to be a big asset for us.”
