An Post admits it is impossible to say when services will return to Drumkeen

An Post has said it does not know when the postal service agency at Drumkeen will reopen.

Locals were left frustrated this week when the service was forced to close after the local agent decided he could no longer continue.

Local county councillor Liam Doherty has expressed his frustration at the situation which will now see customers have to travel to Convoy to collect pension and social welfare paymnets.

A spokesman for An Post told Donegal Daily “At this stage it is impossible to speculate on the future of the Agency at Drumkeen but I will let you know as soon as we have some clarity around what is happening.”

The spokesman stressed that Drumkeen is a Postal Agency not a post office.

The spokesman said “A Postal Agency only deals with the distribution of DSP payments. We immediately transferred DSP customers to Convoy Post Office where they will continue to be looked after.”
