Shock for Donegal revellers as popular nightclub closes its doors

A popular Donegal nightspot has suddenly decided to close its doors after 30 years in business.

The River Club at Cloughfin, Castlefin, will no longer be open for business.

The shock announcement was made on the River Club’s Facebook page last night in a short post.

Tommy and Rowena O’Neill, the club’s owners, came to the difficult announcement, meaning disappointment for revellers who frequented the River Club for its Sunday night disco.

In recent times, Club RC’s Sunday night disco was the only night the club was open for business having previously hosted live bands on Saturday nights.

”After 30 years in The River Club, Tommy & Rowena have decided to call it a day,” the post read.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff and family for all their support over the years and a very big thank you to all our customers past and present. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.”
