A MAJOR power outage in Lifford has resulted in the closure of a national school in the town.
Over 1,000 customers have been effected by the service.
Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál has been forced to close as a result of the outage, with ESB officials estimating that power won’t be restored until around 1.15pm.
Power went off just after 9.30 this morning.
“We apologise for the loss of supply,” the ESB said. “We are currently working to repair a fault and will restore power as quickly as possible.”
Some parents have been forced to leave work to collect their children from the school.
A post on Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál’s Facebook page said: “Due to a power outage in the Lifford area the Board of Management have decided to close the school. Please collect your child as soon as possible.”
The other school in the town, St Patrick’s NS, Murlog, is not affected by the power outage.
