Despite the wet but humid weekend it was back to normal for Letterkenny Golf Club with well over one hundred competitors taking part in competitions.

Saturday belonged to no other than sixteen year old juvenile member Lee Walsh [13], again showing his future potential with a magnificent return of six over par gross, 43pts.

With four dropped shots giving him 21pts at the turn, a birdie at the par five 11th [Settlement] was diminished slightly by a double bogey at Aughaninshin [17th] for an inward nine return of 22pts, two points clear of runner-up M.P.[Michael] O’ Donell [14] on 41pts with ‘nines’ of 20pts and 21pts respectively to relegate Michael Nelis to third place on B.O.T. Saturday’s gross went to the affable, long hitting Michael Collum [7] whose 33gross pts consisted of ‘blanks’ at 3rd and 5th, birdies at 7th, 11th, 14th and finishing off tour-style with an eagle at par five 18th, for which a drive andnine iron was enough to ‘putt’ him within aviary distance.

Sunday’s confined outing was won by cat 2 member Patrick Keeney [11], again with a great score on the day of 43pts. Being just one over par on outward nine with thehelp of a birdie three at Crievesmith [9th] giving him 23pts, Patrick’s 20pts on back nine was enough to have him outpoint 2016 Ulster Cup team captain Eamon O’ Carroll [15] whose double bogeys at 5th and 9th left him three points behind on 40pts.

Congratulations and every success to 2017 club Captain Colin Morrow who took over the reigns at the annual AGM on Monday evening last.
