Enya rakes in profits of almost €1million in 2016

Donegal singer Enya’s music company has recorded a profit of up to €900k after the successful release of her eighth album.

The West Donegal music star has raked in profits of up to €875,000 in 2016, according to accounts submitted to the Companies Office.

Enya’s music company, Aigle Music Company Ltd. have reported a cash pile of over €574,000 in June of last year, along with more than €112,000 in losses.

The company’s current directors are Eithne Ni Bhraonain (Enya), Nicholas Ryan and Roma Ryan. The Ryans were managers of Clannad, the Brennan family band which Enya was part of until breaking out on her own in 1982.

Gweedore native Enya is one of the world’s best-selling recording artists. The 55-year-old is Ireland’s most successful solo artist. The only other Irish act who have sold more records than Enya is U2.

Grammys calling

Enya was nominated for a potential fifth Grammy Award in the Best New Age Album category for her eighth studio album – Dark Sky Island. The 59 Annual Grammy Awards which will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12th, 2017.

Dark Sky Island was released in November 2015, which reached number 7 on the Irish album charts at its peak. It is her highest charting album since Shepherd Moons in 1991.
