Students from Gairmscoil Chú Uladh, An Clochán, have looked into the way teenage minds work and are presenting their findings at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin this week.

The school’s Coiste Sláinte came up with the project title when they saw first hand the positive impact the school’s annual  ‘5k and Rás Ildaite has on the school.

Hence the Coiste came up with the project title ‘ To compare the effectiveness of Mindfulness and High Intensity Exercise for reducing anxiety levels in teenagers.’

The three girls Amy Ní Ghoibúin, Ailíse Ní Mhearlaigh and Aoife Nic Eiteagain were chosen to represent the committee at the competition.

The project comprised of three groups altogether. First year students took part in 6 weeks of H.I.I.T training with Danny Ryan, the second years took part in 6 weeks of mindfulness with Aoife Valley and the third years were the control group for the research.

Good luck to all Donegal students at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition this week.
