Job Vacancies: Shandon Hotel & Spa seek to fill six positions ahead of busy season

The Shandon Hotel and Spa, which overlooks the stunning Sheephaven Bay in Dunfanaghy are seeking a leisure centre attendant, hotel receptionist, hotel housekeeper, spa therapist, spa attendant, and spa receptionist.

The Shandon Hotel and Spa have had a superb 2016, remaining open throughout winter. They are now seeking to fill these positions for the busy season ahead.

Leisure Centre Attendant (Full Time)
Working with the team in delivery of excellent guest care to members and hotel guests. Driving the sales of memberships, daily cleaning, daily recording of necessary health & safety checks, stock control, cash handling and general administrative duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a similar role desirable
  • A positive, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Assistant Swim Teachers or above desirable

Hotel Receptionist (Full Time)
Reporting to the hotel’s Head Receptionist, you will be a professional and polished individual with excellent communication and presentation skills.

The successful candidate will have at least 1 – 2 years hotel reception experience. You will demonstrate excellent customer service as well as the initiative required to multi task in this busy environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To greet guests in a warm, friendly manner
  • To check in and out guests efficiently and quickly
  • Answer switchboard and telephone in a friendly, professional manner, transferring calls to correct extensions and dealing with requests
  • To take reservations correctly, noting any special requests
  • To promote and sell the Hotel’s facilities at all times
  • To ensure billing is correctly done to the agreed standards
  • To deal with any guest complaints, queries and suggestions quickly and efficiently.
  • To handle all departmental floats and safe deposits, maintaining high levels of security
  • To adhere to all Company policies including Customer Care, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Cash Handling etc
  • Effective communication with other employees to ensure the day to day business runs smoothly

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Must have previous experience in a similar role in a hotel
  • Be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of service
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi task
  • Must be standards driven and detail orientated, with the desire to progress within the hospitality industry
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicate fluently in English (written & oral).
  • The role will involve shift work meaning you will be required to work 5 days out of a 7 day week (weekend work also will be involved)

Hotel Housekeeper (Full Time)
We are looking for a passionate housekeeper who has an eye for the small details.

We want someone who will ‘own’ the cleanliness and appearance of the Shandon Hotel and ensure that our high expectations are maintained in relation to cleanliness throughout the resort.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To greet guests in a warm, friendly manner
  • To clean up to 12 hotel bedrooms per shift to the agreed standards
  • To inspect room before signing it over to the supervisor, ensuring that the necessary checklist has been actioned
  • To promote and sell the Hotel’s facilities at all times
  • To ensure that any lost items are declared and recorded in line with hotel policy
  • To deal with any guest requests for extra linen, towels or toiletries promptly and professionally
  • To report any maintenance issues immediately
  • To adhere to all Company policies including Customer Care, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Cash Handling etc
  • Effective communication with other employees to ensure the day to day business runs smoothly

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Must have previous experience in a similar role in a hotel
  • Be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of service
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi task
  • Must be standards driven and detail orientated, with the desire to progress within the hospitality industry
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicate fluently in English (written & oral).
  • You must have the ability to walk and stand during your entire shift. This role requires the ability to push a vacuum, reach, stretch and bend in routine to carry out daily tasks you must also have the ability to lift 25-35 pounds intermittently during your working day.
  • Reports to the Head Housekeeper.

The role will involve shift work meaning you will be required to work 5 days out of a 7 day week (weekend work also will be involved)
