Secondary schools around Letterkenny are examining plans to close early each Friday.
The four schools St. Eunan’s College, Loreto Convent, Colaiste Ailigh and Errigal College have been discussing the proposals in recent weeks.
The proposed plan, which will affect thousands of pupils, could see the schools close at lunchtime on Fridays.
The proposal would mean that the hours will have to be made up during the school-week through the likes of shortening lunch breaks, etc.
A number of schools across the county including Ballinamore already operate a similar system.
The proposal is to be put to parent’s groups shortly for their opinions and no decision has yet been made on the proposal.
