Bronze medal for Letterkenny’s Kirk Mullen in European Championships

LETTERKENNY MAN Kirk Mullen won a bronze medal yesterday at the IBJJF European Championships.

Mullen hails from Kirkstown in Letterkenny and trains out of Rilion Gracie Ireland under head coach Brian Coyle.

Mullen is competing in his first IBJJF Tournament and claimed a bronze medal in the Masters Division.

He won his first match via a choke hold after just a minute-and-a-half.

He won his second match 10-0 on points and was only pipped on the decision of the referee in his semi-final.

The IBJJF European Championships is the largest tournament in Europe and one of the largest in the world with competitors traveling worldwide.

Rilion Gracie Ireland’s headquarters are in Letterkenny and have affiliated clubs across Donegal in Donegal town, Gweedore, Greencastle and Cranford. New members are welcome and further information is available on http://www.riliongracieireland.com/
