LETTERKENNY AC’s Donal Farren will travel to Cardiff this weekend to take opart in the 2017 Celtic International Cross-Country.

The event will be hosted by Welsh Athletics on Sunday and will take place within the British Athletics Cardiff Cross Challenge, in Blackweir Fields Bute Park in the centre of Cardiff.

Athletics NI and Ulster Athletics have confirmed their teams with LAC man Farren, who is coached by Teresa McDaid, included on the Under-20 team alongside North Down’s Craig McMeechan, Banbridge’s Patrick McNiff, Fintan Stewart, from City of Derry and St Malachy’s AC man Eoin McCann.

Athlete Development Lead Tom Reynolds said: “It is encouraging that this was such a competitive selection process which suggests the performance development base, largely provided by clubs, is getting wider.

“We hope this will lead to more robust and skilled athletes progressing through to senior ranks and that the strength of this team will continue to build.”
