Gardai are continuing their investigations into a crash which has left a man in an induced coma at Letterkenny University Hospital.

The man, who is in his 20s, was in a BMW car which crashed near Carrigans in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The BMW Series 5 which he was driving left the road outside Carrigans at around 3.40am and is understood to have struck a tree.

This same car was reported stolen from the Killea area a short time before the accident occurred.

The road was closed for a technical examination but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
