Donegal GAA star Mac Niallais rejects Finn Harps offer

FINN HARPS manager Ollie Horgan has made a surprise move for Donegal GAA star Odhrán Mac Niallais.

It is understood that Mac Niallais has declined the chance to move to Finn Park having been given the chance by Horgan in the last week with the player still mulling over his plans for the year ahead.

Mac Niallais last month confirmed that he has decided not to commit to the Donegal panel for 2017 – and he has since been approached by Harps manager Horgan.

It had been reported that the Gaoth Dobhair man was leaving to spend a year in America, but he is yet to decide his next move.

Mac Niallais has been playing for Gweedore Celtic in Division One of the Donegal League. Eamon and Neil McGee also line out for Celtic.

Mac Niallais scored a brace of goals last year in Donegal’s Ulster SFC quarter-final win over Fermanagh in Ballybofey.

Donegal manager Rory Gallagher said last week that he was aware from as far back as last April that Mac Niallais was taking a break from the county panel this year.

Mac Niallais has been in impressive form for Gweedore Celtic and has weighed with his share of goals for the An Screaban men this season.

Horgan is on a vast trawl for players ahead of the 2017 season.  Among his visits is believed to have been a call to Mac Niallais in Gweedore recently, but it is believed that the player has not taken up the offer.
