A major announcement on the future of one of Donegal’s most historic houses is to be made shortly.

Rockhill House, on the outskirts of Letterkenny, is being transformed by its new owners after it was bought in 2014 for €670,000.

At the time businessman John Molloy told Donegal Daily that he wanted to restore the 70 room house and turn it into Donegal’s Lissadell House.

It now appears that Mr Molloy has been true to his word and a major announcement on its development it to be made this Tuesday – at exactly 7.29pm!

It is understood the famous house, which is set on 30 acres at Bomany, will be a private venue which will cater for weddings and other functions and possibly even a hotel.

At the time Mr Molloy revealed he wanted to restore Rockhill House to its former glory.

“As a company we have always been about restoration and preservation and this will be no different.

“We want to restore Rockhill House to its former glory and that project will start as soon as we gets the keys to the building.

“We know Rockhill holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Letterkenny and Donegal and we want them to be involved in the project from the outset.”
