Gaeil Fhánada: John ‘Phaidi’ takes is the new manager of senior ladies team

Good news for the Gaeil Fhánada ladies team today with the appointment of club stalwart John ‘Phaidi’ McConigley as their manager. The ladies are off the back of a tremendous season bringing home silverware aplenty to the Fanad peninsula in 2016.
John brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has been involved in management/coaching/mentoring our Senior and Reserve sides for the best part of 20 years and has enjoyed considerable success in those times.
His greatest hours came when he lifted our reserve side from the doldrums and led them to a Division 3 league title in 2013 followed a year later by an Intermediate Reserve Championship.
All players that played under John have great respect for him and we’re sure the ladies will also continue to progress under his watchful eye. Best of luck to John and the ladies for 2017.
Numbers: 4, 5, 9, 14, 19. Bonus: 6.  No jackpot winner. €100 Winner: Ann Marie Poole, Glassagh; €50 Winner: Margaret Martin, Rossnakill.  Next weeks jackpot is €1,550.
The Bord na nÓg AGM takes place on Thursday the 9th of February @ 7.30pm in Rosnakill hall. We would ask that you make your best effort to attend and support our underage teams for 2017.
Bhí Cruinniú Chinn Bliana de Chomórtas Peile na Gaeltachta ar siúl sna Gleannta tráthnóna agus  rinneadh an tarraingt don chomórtas i 2017.  Sa chomórtas sinsir, beidh muid ag imirt in eadán ár gcomharsana Baile na nGallóglach sa bhaile sa réamhbhabhta.  Beidh turas níos faide ag an foireann tacaíochta. Beidh siad ag imirt i gcoinne Naomh Muire as baile sa chomórtas soisir.  Imreofar na cluichí seo i mí Feabhra.
Our Underage presentation night will take place on Saturday the 4th of February @ 8pm in Rossnakill hall. We encourage all the girls and boys who trained, played or took part in our successful Parish Leagues during 2016 to try your best to make our annual presentation evening. A great evening is planned so come along to acknowledge the efforts of our young troops!
A community coaching programme is scheduled to take place 2 evenings (possibly 6.30-9.30pm, days TBC) per week in Letterkenny. The programme is open to people with a genuine interest in coaching and who would like to improve their coaching skills.
Learning takes place in a relaxed interactive environment and there will be a combination of both theory and practical sessions.
Modules will include; communication, social media training, personal development, job readiness, sports leadership, sports nutrition, strength & conditioning, sport specific accredited workshops and team building.
Priority will be given to those who are unemployed however expressions of interest are welcomed from anyone interested.
A Stewards Training Course will be held on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th February in the Villa Rose Hotel. Any new recruits interested in acting as stewards at County games are also very welcome at this course. Details in relation to time will be circulated nearer the date.
