Letterkenny RFC Under-15s stay unbeaten after win over Donaghadee

The Letterkenny girls are gaining momentum and recorded their second consecutive home win against a fast improving Donaghadee side. Dave Gallagher Memorial Park is proving to be a fortress for the girls as they remain undefeated there this season.

The home team started brightly and were two tries ahead, courtesy of Mya Alcorn, before the visitors had the chance to shake the long journey out of their legs.

However, Donaghadee had pace aplenty and their number 8 managed two long range tries of her own to keep her team in the game. Further tries from Letterkenny captain Sara Bundschu and Mya Alcorn were almost enough to bury the fixture by half time as Letterkenny led 28-10 going into the break.

The Letterkenny forward pack played brilliantly all day. Their fitness, fearless tackling and willingness to carry the ball and support each other was a joy to watch. They really have developed into a potent force and a season best performance from Maebh Clenaghan was the icing on their victory cake.

Second half tries from Leah Gallagher, Mya Alcorn and Maebh Clenaghan and three tries in return from Donaghadee brought an end to a very good display of determined rugby from both sides.

The Letterkenny girls are back in league action again at home on Sunday the 19th of February against Larne but in the meantime training continues at 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and new faces are always welcome.

The squad on Sunday was: Amy McClintock, Claire Coffey, Tara Duffy, Sarah McMahon, Kelley Higgins, Maebh Clenaghan, Sarah McBrearty, Sara Bundschu, Ailbhe Cannon, Shannen Wilkin, Mya Alcorn, Emma Logue, Keeley Lafferty, Tori Stewart, Maebh McMenamin, Naoise Molloy, Leah Gallagher, Ciara O’Sullivan and Anna McHugh
