Residents in south Donegal have been urged to be vigilant following reports that a gang is snooping in the area search of copper wiring.

Three men, in a Sligo-registration Ford Transit van, have been reported to have visited building sites in the Inver area and have also approached households.

“My son got come copper piping delivered to a site there and these men approached him,” one local told Donegal Daily.

“They were three, big, burly men and were being fairly aggressive and forward about it. They have their eyes open anyway when they knew where to go. They are in a 10-SO Transit van.

“They are looking for batteries, copper pipes, stuff like that. They are in and around the Inver, Dunkineely area.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí.
