Two women from Donegal have escaped serious injury in a crash which claimed the life of the driver of another car.

Roisin McNulty and passenger Dolores McNulty-Hunter were rushed to hospital after a three car collision in Emyvale, Co Monaghan yesterday afternoon.

The driver of one of the cars, Lithuanian man Dainius Petravicius, 34, was killed in the accident.

Ms McNulty and Ms McNulty-Hunter were both taken to Cavan General Hospital but neither suffer serious injuries.

It is understood that the dead man had been driving erratically before the three car collision.

The driver of the third car involved was not seriously injured.
