Dungloe based business Irish Fish Canners have been nominated for the ‘Green Seafood Business Awards’ alongside three other seafood companies in Clare, Cork, and Waterford.

The awards, sponsored by BIM, will be announced at a lavish ceremony in the Clayton Hotel in Dublin on the 21st of February.

The Green Awards aim to highlight the outstanding effort of local companies to reduce their carbon footprint by decreasing their energy and water consumption, and practicing careful waste prevention management.

A spokesperson for BIM says; “Ireland’s Seafood Sector has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability at the awards with Island Seafoods not only winning the ‘Green Seafood Business Award’ sponsored by BIM but they also beat off strong competition from blue chip companies such as Coca Cola, Glanbia, Dairygold and a range of high technology companies to win the overall ‘Green Business of the Year’ award in 2015.
