Preparations are in full swing for the county finals of the Primary School Sports Hall Athletics,, which will be held next Thursday, March 2.

Now in its 5th year and with approximately 2,500 children participating in the qualifying rounds held across the county the programme has grown considerably.

Sports Hall in primary schools is coordinated by Donegal Sports Partnership with the support of the Donegal Athletics Board, Athletics Ireland and the local athletics clubs.

All events are team based with an accumulation of points scored at the end to determine the winners in each of the four categories.

This promises to be a great morning’s athletics which will be held in the Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny commencing at 10.30am

The county finals will see the big guns at Primary School Sportshall Athletics locally and indeed nationally for a number of years come together in what should be an exciting competition. Scoil Iosagain, Buncrana, Scoil Mhuire Gan Small, Letterkenny and Scoil Colmcille, Letterkenny are never too far away from the top of the leader board however the likes of St Marys Stranorlar, Scoil Chróine Dungloe, Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin, Leitir Ceanainn will give them a good run for their money in what should be an exciting finals day.
