A hugely successful 5k took place on Sunday in memory of Paul Gildea and to raise funds for 2 great charities, Pieta House and Sheephaven Aqua Club. Organised by club member Paul Doherty the 24/7 colours were to be seen everywhere on the day.

Gavin Crawford was the winner in a time of 16:46, just one second ahead his fellow 24/7 club mate Michael Black. Stephen Robinson crossed the line in 4th place in a time of 18:50 with John Daly finishing in 19:14 ensuring a top 10 finish.

Kathleen McNulty was the female winner in 20:53. There was some excellent times from 24/7 competitors including Aidan McFadden and Paul O’Gara with Desiree Casburn achieving a PB of 22:43. Full results are listed below.

Well done not only to the competitors but to everyone who gave up their time to help on the day, even Sinead’s Toto making an appearance!

Sportsman Duathlon, Louth

The Galco Naas Duathlon hosted round three of this year’s Duathlon National Series on Sunday at Punchestown racecourse. The race consisted of a 3km run within the racecourse grounds followed by a challenging rolling 20km bike course that brings the competitors to the Blessington outskirts before returning to the racecourse grounds to finish off with a 2nd 3km run to end und

Eugene McGettigan finished in 27th position just marginally over the one hour mark with Cathal Roarty finishing in 01:10:42- A bit different to Cathal’s last visit to Punchestown which was to see the Dire Straits a few years ago!
