The Donegal Junior League are set to probe the circumstances surrounding a game at the weekend where a team walked off the pitch during the second half.

By Chris McNulty, Donegal Sport Hub

Cappry Rovers walked off en masse and refused to see out the closing stages of their Saturday Reserve Division clash with Drumoghill FC on Saturday.

There were 69 minutes gone in the game, being played at The Moss, and was scoreless when Cappry walked off.

The referee, George Clinton, had to abandon the match and an investigation has been launched following the receipt of the report from the match official.

“It was totally bizarre – I’ve never seen that in 40 years watching football,” said one spectator.

“I’ve seen teams unhappy at the referee and some even threaten to walk off – but I’ve never actually seen a team do it.”
