Sean Devenney leads the way in Northwest Premier Snooker League

The Northwest premier snooker league is starting to heat up with just three sets of fixtures left to play.

There are four or five players still in contention for the top honour of being crowned the first Premier champion.

Over the last two weeks we’ve had a couple more century breaks with Phelim McClafferty knocking in a 102 break in his deciding frame win over Shea Moore 3-2 and 16 year old Sean Devenney had his first competitive century 117 in his second frame against Gavin Gallagher on his way to a 3-0 victory.

Gareth Kirwin still holds the high break with 121.

Sean Devenney leads the way on 88 points from 33 games, next is Johnny Connors on 86 points with 31 games played, 3rd place is Aidan Devenney with 77 points and 31 games played, 4th is occupied by 16 year old Ronan Whyte from Ardara with 76 points from 31 games, 5th is local man Gareth Kirwin on 75 points with only 28 games played, 6th place is the first of the Derry players in the league Simon Cooke who has 74 points with just 29 games played.

Over the next couple of weeks all backlogged games will be played and the league will resume on the 14th of March, so there should be some changes to the leader board especially those with 5 or four games in hand.

The league would also like to wish 16 year old Shea Moore from Derry all the best at the European U18 Championships in Cyprus which take place from the 5th to the 12th of March
