Letterkenny Institute of Technology won a dramatic NBCC Division 2 final this afternoon.

At the Oblate Hall in Inchicore, T-John Casiello and Jack Mackey came up the with the goods in overtime to steer LYIT to a win over Dundalk IT.

The sides were level 80-80 after regulation time.

Casiello and Mackey are scholarship students at LYIT and had started in the semi-final win over Dublin Business School.

DKIT led 52-44 at half-time with Peter Lynch also showing well for Mark Cannon’s side.

LYIT had it all to do in the fourth quarter as they trailed by nine, 70-61, at the close of the third.

A last-ditch free throw by Ray Balogun sent the game to overtime – and LYIT prevailed with Mackey named as MVP.
