GAA: New All-County League season gets underway on Sunday

The new All-County Football League season swings into action on Sunday with some cracking ties to set the tone.

The game of the day is undoubtedly at Towney where Kilcar host Glenswilly in a repeat of the 2016 Donegal SFC final.

Then, Glenswilly shocked favourites Kilcar to get their mits on Dr Maguire for a third time.

Glenswilly are under the management of Aidy Glackin this year after he succeeded Michael Canning while Kilcar are on the hunt for a new boss following the shock resignation of Martin McHugh.

Last year, McHugh led Kilcar to the SFC final and to the Division 1 title, but stepped down last weekend.

Sparks are sure to fly at Davy Brennan Memorial Park, too, as Naomh Conaill host Gaoth Dobhair, while Milford play their first ever Division 1 League game when they travel to Bundoran.

Four Masters’ return to the top flight starts by welcoming St Michael’s to Tir Chonaill Park while Dungloe host St Eunan’s in Dungloe.

In Division 2, former Donegal football powerhouses Ardara and Aodh Ruadh clash with Ardara dropping from Division 1 for the first time since the 70s and Aodh Ruadh having won Division 3 last year.

The south-west derby joust of Killybegs and Naomh Columba at Fintra will also have pulses racing.

In Division 3, Moville mark the step up by welcoming Gaeil Fhánada, while Naomh Brid host St Naul’s in a south Donegal derby meeting.

The reserve games are pencilled in for 1.30 with the senior games at 3pm.
