Updated: Man in 70s confirmed dead in Fintown fire

A man in his 70s has died following a housefire in Fintown.

Two units of the Donegal Fire Service from Glenties and Dungloe attended the fire at a house in the Ballinamore area.

A passer-by alerted the fire service to the blaze which happened around 2pm this afternoon.

Firefighters managed to get into the house and took the man from the building.

However, it is understood he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nobody else was injured in the blaze.

Gardai have not released the name of the man until all family members have been notified.
