Letterkenny Gaels: Ballad Group just miss out on Ulster final place

Letterkenny Gaels Ballad Group represented Donegal in the Scór Sinsear Ballad Group Competition on Sunday past in Carrickmore, Co Tyrone.

Katrina, Méabh, Niamh, Clíona and Bairbre came in third place, scoring 85/100 with their two ballads and narrowly missing out on a place in the Ulster Final.

However Donegal will be well represented in Monaghan on Saturday 8th April with Gaoth Dobhair’s Leiriú (short drama) and Dungloe’s Instrumental group and Catriona Dolan singing the solo ballad. Bhain mná na nGael an sult as an obair ar chuir siad isteach ag ullmhú do Scór. Bhí idir craic agus ceol ar siúil acu le Brighdín Carr. This was a great journey for the ladies and hopefully we will be seeing more of them again soon.

Last weekend our senior and reserve footballers both recorded victories when they traveled to Downings. This weekend we welcome Naomh Brid to Páirc na nGael on Sunday. The reserves have a 1.30pm throw-in while the seniors take to the field at 3pm. All support welcome.

Club members are reminded of the Home Insurance offer we are promoting in association with AIB Bank Letterkenny where members can nominate Letterkenny Gaels as their chosen club when taking out Home Insurance with them. See Club Facebook for more details.

For anyone who attends Letterkenny Gaels and other Club Games during the season, the GAA Club Pass is a must have. Between our Senior, Reserve and U-21 teams, they will play at least 25 matches during the season. Added to this, if you attend Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championship and other League Games, the Pass will actually save you money.

Priced at €149, order yours today by contacting Jim on 086 2271435.

**Passes must be ordered no later than Friday 31st March**

The Bailiúchán Teanga for Comhaltas Uladh will happen on St Patrick’s Day. Letterkenny Gaels will be responsible for collections at all Masses at the Church of the Irish Martyrs. Money raised comes back to Donegal through scholarships for young people who go to the Gaeltacht here. If you are available to help with the collection please contact Bairbre Uí Chathail.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig – an mbeidh sibh linn don mórshiúl? Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn will be taking part in this year’s St Patrick’s day parade. No lorry this year but a very creative entry with strong club links. We need plenty of children and adults to take part. Are you available/an bhfuil tú ar fáil? Please contact Bairbre Uí Chathail.

Under 16s girls and younger football training is on every Sunday morning from 11am to 12 noon at Pairc na nGael.

Indoor Camogie Training for U-8 & U-10 has now finished and will resume outdoors in the coming weeks. U-12 & U-14 training continues at Aura from 5.30-6.30pm every Monday evening. New players always welcome.
