Councillor demands action be taken to improve main Twin Towns road

A Donegal County Councilor has called on Transport Infrastructure Ireland to immediately release funding to improve the National Primary Road through the Twin Towns Ballybofey and Stranorlar.

Local Councillor Gary Doherty has made the call after what he calls a “serious deterioration” in the conditioning of the road.

Cllr Doherty said he has been inundated with complaints from motorists about the state of the N15 through the Twin Towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.

“This is one of the busiest arterial routes servicing our County, yet motorists are having to traverse a multitude of potholes, particularly on the south-bound lane.

“What has happened is that a trench which was dug as part of the National Broadband Scheme a number of years ago is sinking, and this is causing potholes to form which are a danger to motorists and their vehicles.

“I am calling on the TII to immediately release the necessary funding to upgrade this stretch of the N15. It is simply not good enough that a National Primary Road, which forms the main thoroughfare through the third biggest urban area of County Donegal, has been allowed to deteriorate to such an extent.”
